How to delete your Spotter account and personal data

Your Data Rights

You have the right to request deletion of your personal data at any time. This guide explains the process, what data will be deleted, and important considerations before proceeding.

How to Delete Your Account

You can delete your Spotter account directly from the mobile app. Follow these step-by-step instructions:

In-App Account Deletion

    Open the Spotter app

    Launch the app on your mobile device and log in to your account.

    Navigate to Settings

    Tap on your profile icon or menu, then select "Settings".

    Go to Security

    Select "Security" from the settings menu.

    Find Delete Account

    Scroll down to the "Danger Zone" section and tap "Delete Account".

    Confirm deletion

    Type "delete my account" in the confirmation field to proceed.

    Complete deletion

    Tap "Delete My Account" to finalize. Your account will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

What Data Will Be Deleted

When you delete your account, the following information will be permanently removed:

Profile Information

  • Name and contact details
  • Email address and phone number
  • Profile picture
  • Saved addresses
  • Vehicle information

Account Data

  • Login credentials
  • Saved payment methods
  • Wallet balance (after payout)
  • Preferences and settings
  • Device identifiers

Transaction History

  • Booking history
  • Payment records
  • Earnings history
  • Reviews and ratings given

Location Data

  • GPS tracking history
  • Parking session locations
  • Navigation history
  • Listed parking spots

Important Considerations Before Deletion

⚠️ This Action Is Permanent

Once your account is deleted, it cannot be recovered. You will lose access to all your data, including transaction history and wallet balance.

Active Bookings

If you have active parking sessions or scheduled bookings, you must complete or cancel them before deleting your account. The app will prevent deletion if you have pending reservations.

Wallet Balance

Withdraw your available wallet balance before deletion. Any remaining balance below the minimum withdrawal threshold ($50) will be forfeited.

Subscriptions

If you have active subscriptions (e.g., premium parking spots), cancel them through the app or your device's subscription settings before account deletion.

Listed Parking Spots

All your listed parking spots will be removed from the platform. Users who have bookings at your spots will be notified of cancellation.

Data Retention for Legal Compliance

While most of your data is deleted immediately, we are legally required to retain certain information for compliance purposes:

Retained Data (for legal, tax, and fraud prevention purposes):

  • Transaction records: Kept for 7 years for tax and accounting compliance
  • Dispute records: Retained if you were involved in any disputes or claims
  • Fraud prevention data: Device identifiers and behavioral patterns to prevent future fraud
  • Legal obligation data: Information required by law enforcement, court orders, or regulatory agencies

This retained data is not accessible to you or other users and is stored securely in compliance with applicable laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).

Deletion Timeline

Immediate (Upon Confirmation)

Your account is deactivated and you are immediately logged out. You can no longer access the app.

Within 7 Days

Your profile, payment methods, and personal information are deleted from active databases.

Within 30 Days

All data backups containing your information are permanently erased.

7 Years (Legal Retention)

Only transaction records and legally required data remain, inaccessible to the public.

Alternative Options

If you're not ready for permanent deletion, consider these alternatives:

🔒 Log Out Temporarily

Simply log out to stop using the app without deleting your data. You can return anytime by logging back in.

🔕 Disable Notifications

Turn off push notifications in Settings if you want to take a break without losing your account history.

🚫 Deactivate Listings

Remove your parking spots from public view without deleting your account. You can reactivate them later.

Alternative Deletion Methods

If you cannot access the mobile app, you can request account deletion through these methods:

Subject: "Account Deletion Request"

Include: Your full name, email address, and phone number associated with your account.

We will verify your identity and process the deletion within 10 business days.

Support Request

Our support team can guide you through the deletion process or submit the request on your behalf.

Platform-Specific Information

🍎 iOS (App Store)

If you downloaded Spotter from the Apple App Store, you can request account deletion directly through your Apple ID settings under "Request to Delete Your Account" for added transparency.

Note: This is in addition to the in-app deletion process and follows Apple's privacy guidelines.

🤖 Android (Google Play)

Google Play Store users can also access the data deletion option through the Play Store app listing. Look for "Data safety" > "Delete your data" on the Spotter app page.

This directs you to the same in-app deletion process described above.

Your Privacy Rights

Under data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Right to Access

Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.

Right to Rectification

Correct inaccurate or incomplete information in your profile.

Right to Erasure

Request deletion of your personal data (as described on this page).

Right to Data Portability

Receive your data in a machine-readable format to transfer elsewhere.
